Where your data lives
Profiles open on your computer. Each one goes to the cloud already encrypted here — the server keeps only ciphertext.
Profiles on your computer
Profiles live on your computer as encrypted files: when a profile’s browser stops, its open copy is wiped — after a check that the file opens. Working needs a sign-in to a Vflin account; a profile goes to the cloud sealed.
Downloading the browser core and working with sites needs the internet.
Encryption before sync
The app encrypts a profile's contents on your device. The server keeps an encrypted copy with no access to what is inside. For the account and sync to work, the service processes separate service data.
| Data | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| The contents of a synced profile | Sent to the cloud encrypted |
| The account's email, its devices, its plan | Needed by the service for sign-in and account management |
| Profile identifiers, sizes and versions | Needed for sync |
| Service requests to Vflin | Handled by the service; the details are in the privacy policy |
What someone with access to our server sees
We checked this not from a description but by querying the database and listing the storage after a full exchange of a profile between two computers — 4 September 2026.
Sees
- the account’s email
- how many devices and profiles you have
- the size of each profile
- which Chromium version last opened a profile
- when a profile changed
- how many wallets a profile holds — as a number, with no addresses or keys
Does not see
- the password and the recovery code
- a profile’s contents
- cookies
- the fingerprint
- the proxy
Manage your devices
Review the devices signed in to your account and revoke access you do not need.
Keep your recovery code
The recovery code is what reaches your encrypted data if the matching password is lost. Keep it separately. Without working means of decryption, support cannot open a profile.
Run the cloud on your own server
Vflin supports hosting its cloud part yourself. The requirements and the instructions are in the documentation.
